I'm quite excited today..... I entered 2 quilts in the Mt Gravatt Show and I was so lucky to win

I don't look excited do I ?  .....but I am......

The colour is better in the piccie below......

1st for An Earl Grey Moment

That's all my news for today...... I think that is enough though.

At last..... hooray

Finished at last, it has taken so long to have this quilted that I was beginning to think it would never happen but here it is and I'm so happy.

Binding and label done too....

I'll let the piccies tell the story......

Yes I know it says 2013 .... I had the label made last year with the date and quilters name.... the first quilter had it for 3 months and then couldn't do it so I had to pick another quilter, of course I needed to change the name and I just couldn't be bothered to alter the year..... its not far out..... I have been trying to get it quilted since June 2012..... success at last.

Looks like new curtains are needed .....  it will be great to have a choice of quilts and I'll be able to change them when the mood takes me.

Yahoooooooo.

Fun day out and other bits.

What a great day I had on Friday last week, I asked Sandi to come with me to collect my "Earl Grey Moment" quilt from the quilter so of course we made a day of it. We had to travel over an hour to the quilters so we needed to have coffee and cake on the way but we forgot to take a piccie .... it was yummie.

On the way home we decided to drop into "Faeries in My Garden" so naturally I had to show my quilt to Lesley (on the right) ... Tracy (on the left) ... and little old me in the middle.

Lesley and I deep in conversation about embroidery of course, it is great to talk with someone that has the same passion for this craft, she is so lovely to chat with.... Sandi thought I would be there chatting all day.

Thank You Lesley and Tracy for your very nice compliments on my quilt.

Can you believe that I only bought 2 fat1/4's from Faeries, I was so amazed at my self..... pat on the back for me showing such restraint.

Then we were off to have lunch at the cafe just up the road from the craft shop.

This is a great shot of Sandi...... giggling away and boy oh boy did we do a lot of that.

On the way home we called in to see our mate Tereasa, she is working in a craft shop and it was so good to catch up with her..... I think we brightened her day although we were a bit noisy for the shop.

I did buy this fabric for the BOM in the Homespun magazine "Its Time for Christmas" by Bronwyn Hayes, can't resist Christmas things.... Sandi and I are doing this one together for this year...... did I really say this year ?    Oh my goodness.... silly girl I am.

Thank You Sandi for joining me for the day, I had the best time..... my face was aching from all the laughing, it did turn into silliness on the way home.

This photo is proof that I have been sewing but sadly its secret stuff so you will just have to wait to see the finished project....I also put the binding on my quilt.

Well I think that's enough chatter from me today I'm now off to continue hand sewing  the binding on my quilt.

Turtle Tuesday

What a fun day we had making our little turtles, its an Anni Downs pattern....." Turtle Pincushion" ..... such a little cutie. Teresa, Sandi and me were joined by  Lynda  even though she was in NSW.  I've never made hexies before but I can now see why they are so popular, maybe I will have to make something bigger next time as it is so relaxing when you get going although this little guy was a bit fiddly.

He was checking out the pot plant.

Not sure what he is looking for here but he is tucked up inside now as its getting a bit chilly outside.

Oh goodie this is my first OPAM for August.

I have news on the "Earl Grey Moment" quilt, I started to quilt it and decided I couldn't do it justice after doing all that embroidery so I am having it custom quilted but there is a waiting list so I hope to have it by Christmas..... fingers crossed.

Bits of this and That....

Here is my "Earl Grey Moment" quilt all pinned and ready to quilt but for me this is the bit I hate the most..... the embroidery is my favourite part of any quilt.

I made Mel ( my son Rob's partner) this shaggy quilt for her birthday 23rd June, she feels the cold so I thought this quilt would be just the thing for her but she didn't really want to be in the piccie so thats as good as it gets. lol

This is the little quilt I made for Fiona in the "Mini Quilt Swap" organised by Cheryll, this is really a fun swap.

Another block done for the "My Favourite Things" quilt, I've been a little slow with this one but I will get stuck into it now.

Lastly this block, its for the "Christmas Fun" BOM.... not many to go now as its only small.

Yes I know.... I promised not to go on about the Sydney trip anymore but...... I forgot to add one of my really terrific buys..... on our shopping tour with Lynda I could hear the most beautiful violin music and in the city mall was this man playing and I just couldn't go past without buying one of his CD's, he has 6 and I certainly will be getting another 1 or 2 or even more..... I have it playing now as I write this post..... fantastic.

Okay thats it now.... I really truely promise.

Ta Dahhhhhhhh

Yes I've finished all of the "Earl Grey Moment" blocks so now it is
...... put it together time......
There is a little more applique to be done though, just on the 4 corner stone blocks in the border so shouldn't take too long to complete I hope.

I'm so happy with all the blocks and can't wait to see it all finished
..... woohooo this is so exciting.

I hope you are doing something that you are excited about too.

FNSI sewing

Thank you Heidi and Bobbi for the FNSI it certainly helps with motivation knowing others are stitching along with you.
Ages ago I started  string blocks but as usual I got side tracked with other things so last night I got all of these done, while working away each piece reminded me of the projects I used them for so I have decided to call this quilt "Memories Past"

I finished another block of "Earl Grey Moment" quilt from Faeries in My Garden, one more to go and then I can put it together..... yay

I then moved on to Christmas Fun wall hanging, its been very slow going with this one but it will be finished for Christmas I promise.

It doesn't look like a lot but it kept me very busy and I was very pleased to get it done.
I hope you all enjoyed stitching in the FNSI as I did.

More hours in the day please

Oh I do wish I had more hours in the day especially for stitching, I have so much I want to do but my little fingers just can't stitch fast enough hehehehehe.

Here is another block of the "Earl Grey Moment" quilt from "Faeries in my Garden", you can see my friend Jenny's block here, so far we are on track  doing 1 block a month.

This really is a delight to stitch.

I hope you all get some stitching time today.

I have been busy crafting but not a lot to show at the moment.
Here is block 3 of my Earl Grey Moment quilt by "Faeires in My Garden" so all is going to plan with this so far, Jenny is keeping me on track.

This has been slow going but trying to make some headway with it now, "Twilight Garden"  from Faeries in My Garden again but this design is by Maureen Latta, love these fabrics, this is a wallhanging.

                                          Centre panel

There are 20 of these little crazy patch blocks.

I had a shocking senior moment last week which is why I can't show what I've been working on ..... don't you just hate it when you make terrible mistakes..... there I was cutting happily away and then it hit me, I'm supposed to be fussy cutting the borders and didn't so had to buy more fabric..... grrrrrr stupid.

So hopefully I will get back to that later.

An Earl Grey Moment

Here is my new BOM from " Faeries in My Garden" called "An Earl Grey Moment" it is such a beautiful quilt, my friend Jenny is doing it with me so hopefully we can keep each other motivated to get each block done monthly..... well thats the plan.

I thought I would begin with the Earl Grey Teabag that came in the parcel with a Nice biscuit while I sorted out the first block. Thank you Lesley for the teabag it sure did hit the spot.
And here it is my first block ready for stitching....... lets go Jenny.
