"It's Time for Christmas"

"Its Time for Christmas" is finished........just in time for taking its place in the Christmas decorations.

This is a Bronwyn Hayes BOM pattern from the  Homespun magazine, 4 of us from our Tuesday group have been doing it together so I'm sure the other girls will have photos to show soon too...... its such a bright festive quilt and I love it.

A couple of close up photos.

I'm a little bit sad really as Homespun was one of my favourite mags but the new changes to Homespun magazine are aimed at a younger market and I can't find any projects that suit my taste but I still have more issues from my subscription to go ...... its not all bad though as now I won't be tempted with new projects and will hopefully get on with things I already have.

Now to a swap gift, I received this lovely parcel from Melissa in Cheryll's Flower mini quilt swap, I did show a picture of the one I sent in an earlier post...... very nice paper with a matching card.

Thanks Melissa for this mini quilt..... I don't know if you have a blog or not so I can't link it there.... sorry.

An outing and another block

Home alone and pondering my plans for the day while enjoying a cuppa and cake.

Last Thursday we had an outing with friends at Harrigans Hotel , Calypso Bay.

I forgot to take my camera so I took this lousy photo with my phone but I guess its better than no photo.

Forgot to take a photo of my lunch but couldn't miss one of dessert, this was Gav's, he said it was wonderful.

My Sticky Date pudding with caramel sauce......yummo

The outlook from our table, you can just see the water in the background.

Another "Its Time for Christmas" BOM in the Homespun magazine.

This post is short and sweet today........ hahaha...... I'm on a mission with my "Crazy Christmas" quilt, its a "quilt as you go" so I'm on the home run now..... I hope you have enjoyed your weekend doing heaps of sewing.

Big and small finishes.......

At last my "Figgy Pudding" quilt is finished and of course that's the big finish...... I'm so happy with this quilt and its quite different in style from my other Christmas quilts but I'm sure it will fit in somewhere, Corinne is eyeing it off as it would fit very nicely with her Christmas colours so I will have to make sure that it doesn't disappear when I'm not looking......

The trees are 3D I guess you could say ...... I should have taken a photo with my hand behind them so you could get an idea of what I mean...... might do that tomorrow and add another photo.

Hmmmm maybe I will have to decorate the bedroom this year or should I give it to Corinne, we will see.

                                                   Every quilt needs a label

Now for my small finish, this tiny pin cushion is a kit from "Patchwork Mariko Japan", I love small projects.... ooops should have put a couple of pins in it.

These are the last of my "Crazy Christmas" blocks stitched so I can now start joining this quilt together too and hopefully it will be another finish..... woohooooo

"It's Time for Christmas" BOM   from the Homespun magazine that I'm doing with  a couple of  friends  from our Tuesday Girls group ...... this should be finished for Christmas too we hope.

Well I seem to be on a roll at the moment so I'm off to get the next block ready to begin.

Melbourne trip

Up up and away..... off to Melbourne to the Craft and Quilt show .... also shopping, eating and laughing, we had a great time..... Norreen, Jenny, Lynda and me.

Retail therapy was on the list too.

Our apartment.

Norreen and I shared this room, very comfortable.

Off to L'uccello's, we have heard so much about this shop and we were not disappointed at all.... could have spent lots of time and money there but we had choccie shops to explore.

There were "speckles" in this little tin but not now.

                                                                      The Yarra

First night we were too tired to go out so order in was the way to go.

Day 2 saw us hiring a car and going to ....... craft shops of course, first stop was the "Patchwork Tea House".... it was my favourite shop of the trip followed closely by "Gail's Emporium" which we visited on day 3's shop hopping.

Jenny was our driver.

Yes Scones and tea at the "Patchwork Tea House" and they were wonderful.

Here is my shopping..... oops the cotton reel was bought from "L'uccello's" the day before.

                                                   More to follow another day.

Another block from the Homespun mag BOM "Its  Time for Christmas" wall hanging.

Another fun day out with the girls and a little craft.

                   Quilts 1700-1945

We had a little outing last Tuesday to the Queensland Art Gallery to the the most wonderful quilt display.... if you get the chance to go and see them you won't be disappointed they are truly amazing.

Sorry girls I know its a terrible photo but it was the only one I took of our trip.

We always manage to squeeze in  a treat and coffee ...... it was yummie too.

Laurel has just returned from an overseas trip and she gave us all a pressie...... a very cute thimble and tissues from Austria.... doily from the Netherlands......lovely.

"It's Time for Christmas" BOM from the Homespun magazine, we are doing this one together and hopefully it will be finished for Christmas...... well that's what we are hoping.

"Figgy Pudding" quilt, pattern by Moda ......

Not sure how to quilt this one yet ....

I'm working on my long "to do list" at the moment ...... I will have more to show soon..... I hope.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mother's Day

These bright yellow flowers were my Mum's favourite so I couldn't let this day go by without them in my home..... they just have something that makes me smile.

I spent the morning with Liz and her family at a "Breast Cancer Breakfast" at the boys Sherwood AFL club and I also got to see Clayton play as well...... a special day with family and all money raised went to Cancer research.

Don't  you love Clayton's pink hair ? There is nothing like a big breakfast to start the day especially for growing boys...... they were enjoying it too.

Oooops forgot to take this piccie before I started, it was so yummie.

All the Mum's made a guard of honour  for the boys to run past which was great for the Mum's and the boys.

Love the pink socks....... I bought some cupcakes at the cake stall so I will enjoy them later today.

I hope that they raised lots of money for this terrific cause.

On the craft front I have caught up with the "Its time for Christmas" BOM in the Homespun magazine which I'm doing with my Tuesday group.

                                                            Block 2

                                                                 Block 3

Now I'm off to have a cuppa and maybe a cupcake or 2....... who knows.
