So excited !!!!!!!

I'm quite excited today..... I entered 2 quilts in the Mt Gravatt Show and I was so lucky to win 

1st for Twilight Garden .....

and Best in Show....

I don't look excited do I ?  .....but I am......

Oh my goodness I thought I would never finish this beautiful quilt.....

I'm very pleased with it too, I had wanted to put it in the spot you see here above my bed  but it is too big so I will have to find another place for it.

Phew I feel quite relieved actually, that's a big project taken off my ever growing list.

I can relax now, no not really there are more big things to come...... heavens knows why this took me so long but we do seem to get distracted with other projects......that might have to change I think.

Block 2 of "Teddy Bear Tea Party"

Just a quick post to show the 2nd Block of "Teddy Bear Tea Party"

I have been preparing blocks of  "Libby's Mystery Quilt" and "Christmas Belles" today, time consuming but all ready for stitching now.

I have "Twilight Garden" pinned and ready to be quilted.

Well it was great to be able to join in with Chooky even if it wasn't in person but I did get a lot done although it doesn't look like much here.

5 blocks made for this quilt.....Trick of the Card....lots to go but its nice to have it all cut out ready to stitch.

I put the silk ribbon on the centre block of Twilight Garden 

and finished the border stitchery

Just waiting for the backing fabric to arrive in the mail and then the quilting......

Lots of bits and pieces......

Progress on my Twilight Garden is a bit slow at the moment but hopefully it will be done soon...... I put the quilt top together but wasn't happy with it so a lot  of reverse sewing was done then I started the embroidery on the narrow border and ran out of thread so I got started again and then ran out of the other thread ...... nothing worse when you are so close to a finish.

I have also started "Teddy Bear Tea Party" quilt which has been in the cupboard for a long time so I will squeeze it in somewhere...... not sure where yet but there isn't a lot of work in it so it should fit in .... I hope.

I had a lovely Mother's Day with the family and I received lots of terrific gifts, naturally the eating part of the gifts didn't reach the photo stage..... mmmmmm very yummie too.

I entered a  Mother's Day competition on face book and I won..... how good was that ? 

it was on Suzanne Grae's face book and you had to enter a photo of you and your Mum.... my Mum isn't with me anymore but she did help me win this prize..... she would have been very happy about it too.

Our May meeting for the "Sunday Stitcher's" was another great day, here are our birthday girls.

Maria, Maree and Tatyana.

Our Tatyana is having a baby soon..... as if you hadn't guessed that by the last photo so it was a very special day for us all as she was presented with a lovely baby quilt made by the group.

As usual we had a great day.

Our Tuesday group was very small this week..... just Norreen and me so while the cats are away we went to play...... in a coffee shop of course.

I really must post more often, getting a bit slack lately.......

PS..... I have a confession too, I signed up for Libby Richardson's new Mystery BOM Quilt so photos will follow soon....... possibly.

Yes yes I have finished all the blocks for the "Twilight Garden" quilt....... 

I only hope that I can take a better photo of the finished quilt as I'm finding it very difficult to show the beautiful fabrics but a miracle might happen one never knows.

Another Tuesday get together today and these beautiful King parrots came to visit us on the patio while we stitched...... gosh they are so lovely.

I hope you can see them on the B-B-Q  I didn't like to get any closer and frighten them away.

There's nothing like a bit of crumpet in the morning !!!!!!!!!

You girls ..... I know just what you were thinking ..... very naughty but I did get your attention.....

More Twilight Garden......

Yes I have finished 2 more blocks from "Twilight Garden"  only 2 to go woohooooo.

Unfortunately my photography hasn't improved but I'm in a hurry to get on with the rest and I don't have time to take more photos.....not that they would be any better but one can only hope I guess.

Well I'm off to stitch now...... it gets exciting when you can see the end in sight.

Lots of catching up to do

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter...... mine was a bit up and down but generally happy.

We have been enjoying family birthdays..... 

Corinne had a lovely birthday dinner at Wagaya in Brisbane, first time at a Japanese restaurant for a few of us and it was great..... I'm sure we will visit there again.

Gavan didn't go and its probably just as well really as I don't think we would have got him out from the sunken table but it was such fun...... loved it.

Funny to see the tiny one is the eldest. 

Gosh I think they get their looks from me ....... hahahahahaha ......I could only hope.

Heather and Liz .... they won't be happy I put this photo on my blog.

Liz managed the chop sticks well but I didn't ..... a fork was called for as I would have starved to death.

Then it was Gav's birthday.... his choice was Pizza at home.

Obviously Gav was mucking around and put on a silly face for the camera.

On Good Friday we were so lucky to see Thomas (Robert 's son)  but sadly no-one including his Dad gets to see him very often ......... it was Easter 2 yrs ago that we saw him last so this was a real delight.

Boy the concentration on their faces, they were playing snap.

Thomas is now 12 yrs.

We also played  Disney Memory game and Thomas won that ... mind you my memory was put to the test.

The Disney game was given to my kids by my sister June when they were very young so it was great to have it out for Thomas to enjoy, the other grandchildren played with it when they were little too.

Sadly I didn't get anymore photos but hopefully we will get to see again in the near future.

There hasn't been much crafting going on here .....since Easter Saturday I've had an awful sinus infection and it really knocked me rotten but I'm getting better as the days roll on.

Another 2 blocks from the "Christmas Belles"

Its good to be sewing them together as they are finished.

Another "Twilight Garden" block, I just have to add some silk ribbon to this block but I will leave that till all the blocks are completed.

I have had a little hold up as I ran out of thread but it should be here this week so I can get on with the last 3 blocks...... woohooooo

Our online "Friends in Stitching" group has a birthday swap and I had to make for Cathy, the theme was a black and white embellished bag with a couple of goodies inside so I chose the "Frilly Dilly Bag".

You can just see the little bag hanger, I have one so I hope Cathy likes it as much as I do mine....I hate placing  my bag on the floor when I'm out and about.

Well I think that's everything I had to report but I probably forgot something..... if I did I'm sure it will wait till another time.
