Lots to tell

Where do I begin........ well June (g/daughter) came for a visit and used all my GB's on the computor so I haven't been able to do any posts as it was so slow which didn't make me very happy but its all good now.

I was in the Mini Quilt Swap organised by Cheryll and the theme this time was "Spring", I received my parcel from Lyn and in my excitement I forgot to take a piccie of the parcel before I opened.
Love the post card from Dunedin, such a lovely city.

Thank you so very much Lyn for my mini quilt I love it.... I have my stand in the sewing room..... the quilt looks wonderful and it brings a lovely spring feel to the room.

On the SKOW front I'm happy to say that I have finished all the blocks so now its time get on with the cutting and piecing.

Our little Tuesday group have as Sandi puts it "crossed over to the dark side"in other words we did a bit of scrap booking or scrap boxing  lol....... its nice to do something a little different and we did have fun as usual.

I have yet  to decide on labels for the draws.

I have been spending a lot of time recently sitting in Doctors waiting rooms as Gavan has been having a few problems lately so of course that means reading waiting room magazines and I saw a quick idea for a treat so I tried it on the girls.... they do taste nice but very sticky little devils..... choc wheaton biscuits, marshmallows and raspberry jam.

Its now the following Tuesday (keeping in mind my posts are behind) a couple of girls were away so that left this naughty lot.

This is my lunch, eaten especially for Tereasa ..... odd I here you say.......

Well I made the base for this Christmas tree out of the creamed corn can, Tereasa is making the same doll so of course she needed a can for her tree.

As I have said a million times before I love Annie Smith's Country Keepsake dolls, this one is called  "White Christmas"it was great to have the tree to make as well.

On Thursday our group went to the Brisbane Craft Show .... we had a long day but lots of fun and laughter as usual.

I didn't spend tooooo much which was good but I did seem to buy more scrapbooking goodies than anything else and that's not good.

This is the only stitching thing I bought ooooowa.

Well I think that's about it for the moment and I'm sure I've done enough rambling for now.

Out of the dry comes beauty.

Everything is so dry here in our part of the world .... Jimboomba QLD .... rain would be a real treat.
Terrible weather for the fire brigade boys.... I'm sure they will be very busy in the coming months.

Its a shame that we only get to see this Bougainvillea flower when its this dry..... pity as it is so beautiful.

Another 2 blocks of the SKOW done.

Our Saturday get together was very small last week, just Norreen and myself but we still managed to laugh and chat while we worked on our Snowmen, they will be finished next Saturday.

We did make a big sacrifice though, we had to eat the choccie biscuits by ourselves.....
hmmmmm they were good too.

Spring swap and other bits

This is my "Spring" mini quilt swap gift and its going to ......... as I write this post, hopefully the express post will get it there on time..... I hope my partner likes it.

Thanks again to Cheryll for organising this swap, its so nice to have something new to day display on my little stand.

The next block is finished for my SKOW quilt, this block should have been a cat but seeing as I don't have a cat I changed it for our plane.

My son Robert made me this great little ruler holder and it is working out a treat on my cutting table.

This is a short post today, I'm off to organise the rest of the SKOW blocks for stitching....... not tooooo many to go now.

Essential buys and another block

Its always nice to get little parcels in the post especially when they are wrapped like a pressie .... "Cat' n Cart Crafts" make buying very special.

These goodies are of course essential buys so that makes it okay... more dolly bits and bobs.

And yes its another block done, its so good to be motoring along with this quilt.

It has taken me a while to get going but there's no stopping me now.

Being naughty and a finish.....

Oh dear I was a bit naughty today but I just couldn't help myself ......hehehehehe...... I do so deserve it I think. I went to the "Southside Antique shop" and bought these lovely little dishes and now to my excuse, I have a plate with this pattern and seeing these 2 dishes on facebook I just had to have them..... as you do ......

Aren't they sweet ?

My big finish is one of Annie Smith's dolls of course..... called "Dear Santa", on Saturday's I meet with a few friends we make dolls and do a bit of stitching ..... Norreen's Santa on the right and the other is mine Sandi's Santa is on her blog, our next doll is a snowman, he will make his debut in a few weeks.

Its nice to get a finish for OPAM.... I have a few new Christmas decorations this year so it will be great to put on display.

"Earl Grey" news and a finish......

Today I took my quilt "An Earl Grey Moment" to the quilt lady but it will be quite a while till it returns as she is so busy, I'm very happy to wait to get it finished.

"Christmas Fun" is now finished so that's an OPAM for this month, its a cute little wall hanging.

For those of you who know me well......
"its not finished till it has a label"
hehehehehehe

So here it is.

"My Favourite Things" quilt is coming along very slowly although the end is in sight if I put my glasses on hehehehehe. Can't wait to get it done as it really is a bit of a struggle for this quilt..... not sure why but it just is.

Think that's all my news for today so happy stitching everyone.

A sad post for today

The lovely lady on the right.... Susan.... will be missed by so many, she lost her battle with breast cancer. The "Cantabile" girls choir sang for her in the St. John's Cathedral Brisbane, she has been teaching choir members for 20years at Canterbury College and she was more than just a teacher, all the girls over these years thought of her as their second Mum and I was lucky enough to join her, the girls and families on  tour to Austria in 2008.

                                    Thanks for the wonderful memories.

Another little finish

Here is "Good Pud" a pattern from a Homespun Magazine the same one that "I Believe" doll was in, I have been doing this project with our Tuesday girls..... Sandi has a great post about our day with a very funny photo too.

There were a few problems with the pattern but we fussed around to get it right.
Naturally I got the blame for choosing this project but I'm happy with the way its turned out.

Great day out and a bit of craft.

Well it was EKKA time again in Brisbane and I was lucky enough to go with Corinne and Kenny on Friday, firstly a train ride .... happy faces were the order of the day.

I didn't take many photos but couldn't resist the Smurf Village in the cake decorating section..... it was just fantastic.

Corinne wanted a scary ride but sadly she had to go on it by herself as Kenny and I chickened out.

Too many spins and twirls for me these days.....  10years ago I would have joined her but not now.

Very tired folk on the way home .... thanks to both of you for taking me to the show I had a terrific day. I did check the quilts out too but forgot to take any piccies, pity as there were some really lovely quilts there .... silly duffer I am.

I had another great day on Saturday as it was Jake's (g/son) 16th birthday but once again no piccies.....
Then on Sunday I went to see his brother Clayton (12yrs) play footy and did I take piccies then..... no..... gosh I'm getting sillier as I get older.

I  pinched this one from Jake's Facebook.

Jake is in the Lions AFL Academy as well as the Sherwood team...... loves his footy.

Clayton's team had a great win and are in the finals next weekend.

Of course I have photos of these girls.

This is" Angels Blessings" ..... "Country Keepsakes" pattern by Annie Smith, just love her dolls.

3 Shelf sitters and 2 hanging dolls.

I have just realised that one of the Angels has forgotten some of her make-up, I'd better take care of it tomorrow.

I hope you are all enjoying a bit of stitching.

Should be cleaning but stitching instead...... oooowaaa

My plan for today was to clean the lounge room windows/blinds and curtains but Gavan has the man flu so rather than disturb him and his tele watching I decided to sew...... oh what a sacrifice I made, I'm so good I think hehehehehe.

Firstly a photo of the last block for the Christmas Fun BOM  by Lynette Anderson.

I started piecing the little wall hanging together yesterday and after a lot of fiddling today got it done so only the quilting and binding left...... so happy about that.

Can you see where I fixed my terrible mistake..... I hope it looks ok and if you can't see it then that's good enough for me.

I've also finished another My Favourite Things block but there is still heaps to go.

Didn't really enjoy this block with all the little flowers on the tree so glad its out of the way.

This afternoon I have prepared this dolls head for painting, Saturday is Dollie day

Wow it doesn't seem much really but it took me all day to do it.

Hopefully Gavan will have a miraculous recovery and go model plane flying on Sunday so then I can do the jobs I had planned for today.

Getting there !!!!!!

Only 1 block to go for this little wallhanging "Christmas Fun" BOM by Lynette Anderson .... if you pop over here you will see a few more on the go.

This is a short post as I have to get back to the last block as I'm in a hurry now to get it finished.
