Gardeners Journal quilt finished

Well here it is hanging on the dining room wall my "Gardeners Journal" but Anni Downs and I love it. It has been a great journey travelled with the girls from the "Stitch-a-long" group organised by Chookyblue, its also been terrific to see so many quilts coming together in different colourways.

and of course a quilt finish is not a finish without a label.

Here is another block from my "Blossom Lane" quilt, still to be embellished with charms and lace, this if from "Faeries in My Garden".

Another finish from the "Gift of the Month" from "Faeries in My Garden" called "Victoria's Travel Tote" such beautiful fabrics and laces, very happy with this project.... wonder who I will give this to mmmmmm I'll have to give that a lot of thought.

Still more to tell

These are a few piccies of my daughter's ... Liz..... home at Hattonvale in the Lockyer Valley QLD, they were so lucky unlike others in this area, Liz had a box packed with photos and important papers in case they had to leave but the day after these photos were taken it was nearly all gone just leaving huge puddles and mud but fortunately no damage to their property. So many were not so lucky losing everything and family members it must be so hard to have to start all over again.

Front steps.
Her house is about 1 metre high off the ground but they were getting a bit worried for a while.

Driveway to the front of their house.

She is standing on the back patio and thats their garage, the water was just lapping the bottom step, Graeme SIL wasn't able to go to work as all roads were cut for days so they were very lucky people as you can see.

On a lighter note I'm still on a crafting roll so I have a few projects to show. The first is part of  the "Gift of the Month"  club from Faeries in My Garden, this one  is called "A Tisket... A Tasket.... My Little Sewing Basket" and its a lovely project to make as well as being useful.

Pincushion and needle case.

Also part of the Gift of the Month is this project "Dainty Doorstops" these are great as you can take the covers off for washing, I'm sure they will make great gifts, not sure yet who for but I know they will find a home ... maybe early christmas gifts.

I've also started the "Crazy Christmas" quilt by Lynette Anderson this is block 1.

My "Gardeners Journal" quilt is coming along nicely and hopefully will be finished soon. I really hate this part of quilting, clipping all the threads before layering soooo boring.

I must say that I'm not very keen on layering either but the end is in sight.

Phew I feel quite tired now after all that newsy stuff so I'm off now to do more stitching.

Happy stitching and drop by again soon.

More to tell

Gosh all this blogging so early in the year is a bit of a worry  hope I don't run out of steam..... never mind I'll just keep going while the iron is hot so to speak.

On the "Stitch-a-long" blog this is the nect project we will be starting soon "Tis the Season" quilt by Natalie Bird, I have the book and  fabrics all ready to go.... I purchased the kit from "Homespun and Beautiful " love the colours.

We are still working on the "Gardener's Journal" heaps of lovely quilts to see in all different colourways..... lovely...... here my finsihed quilt top now to get on with the quilting.

This is a great little pattern "Flossie" by Blue Willow Designs its an easy pattern to follow and that makes the job a lot easier thats for sure. I've made these for friends and 1 for me, I know christmas is over but its always nice to get a little surprise at any time, hope they like them.

This is the last block for our BOM in "Friends in Stitching" online group, now to decide how to put the blocks together, borders... sashing .... and  quilting..... before we get started on this years projects.

Off to a good start.

I have got off to a flying start this year but it will be very interesting to see how long it lasts.
This tablerunner I was going to have ready for last christmas but alas that didin't happen, did all the hand work but time got the better of me and the quilting/binding had to wait but I am early for this year I guess. This is a pattern from "Faeries in My Garden" called "Sugar Plum" christmas tablerunner as part of the "Gift on the Month" club, I need to get a move on as it won't be long before this years projects start to roll in and I'm already behind so wish me luck that I am able to catch up with last years projects ...... and the year before projects..... oops shouldn't admit that really.

Such beautiful fabric and very unusual colours for christmas but I love them.

This can be my first OPAM too, woohooooo.

I've also caught up with the Lynette Anderson  BOM "My Garden" its a great little project, not too many to go now.

I'm still working on my embroidery BOM from..... yes you guessed it..... "Faeries in My Garden" called "Blossom Lane" this is block 5 so only 4 more to go. This block has to have beading and lace added yet as do the other blocks I've done but I thought I'd do it when all blocks are embroidered. I'm really looking forward to finishing this quilt, once I've passed halfway with a project I tend to get excited that the end is near so I'm off now to prepare the next one. Don't know what happened but this photo seems and odd colour, looks better in real life.

Final post for 2010

Firstly a couple of last minute OPAMs, they have been put together for a while now just waiting for quilting and binding.  This one is just a small tablerunner I needed  for our table between our lounge chairs, love this fabric.

I made these 2 at the Evans Head retreat in November and also only needed finishing off.

I've had a lot of fun this year in joining the OPAM and also the Stitch-a-long, meeting new friends with common interests, it all helps with motivation to get projects done.
Its also been a sad year for me with my Mum passing away and I missed her this christmas but its very good to remember the good times.
We enjoyed christmas with all the family together and of course ate too much so it will be back on the treadmill for me next year.

I hope you all had a very happy christmas with family and friends.

I would like to wish you all a   HAPPY NEW YEAR  and may it bring you health and happiness.

See you in 2011.

Looks like it is snowing at our house thanks to Pippa.

I'm sure Corinne will get a giggle out of these photos, theres not much left of the tiger now.
